Book Off

Founded in August 1991, the company has had explosive success, expanding to 866 stores throughout Japan and eight overseas locations (as of August 2006). In addition to books, its chains also sell manga, CDs, DVDs, video games, and even used video game consoles, mobile phones and portable media players.

Book-off already have a standard EAS system installed but are currently using chirp in as an additional level of security within their designer clothing and accessories departments within stores around Tokyo. This has allowed them to display these high value products in the open rather than from behind a locked counter. Signage in the department warns the customer that the alarm will sound if they take the item out of the department.

Sac's Bar

Founded in August 1974, Sac’s bar is part of the Tokyo Delica group who currently operate over 650 stores across Japan.

Sac’s bar prefer an open frontage to their stores and so chirp is an ideal solution. They use a combination of hubs to create a web of coverage over the entire store.

This allows customers to wander around the entire store with products, but are alerted if they step out of the store and into the mall. The Unique function of Chirp means Sac’s Bar can display products right up to the threshold of the store safe in the knowledge that they are protected from theft.
